The Portfolio: Discovering the Importance of Being in Alignment with Christ
The portfolio for Sonju Weddings + Events is designed to set our clients at ease. This styled inspo board was intentionally curated by our Creative Director, Shayla-Rene, for the bride with a vision. For her, elegance + opulence are key. While it is important for the brand to have a professional portfolio displaying our work + skill set, it is also important for us to have a character portfolio as well. Surprisingly, that is the very purpose behind this post.
As the close of 2016 quickly approached we found it important to keep with the concept of The Rising Tide Society’s Recharge Challenge. One aspect of the challenge was to simply pause + reflect on the year. While progress had been made, the Lord was swift to reveal we still had a long way to go. You see, up until 2016 it was so easy for us to get caught up in our challenges. Things would happen + we would get so bent out of shape, feeling as though control has been lost. It was through the reflecting process, the issue was brought to light. We are not in control, and never will be. Ultimately, always, end of conversation, God is the one in control.
This called for a mindset change, allowing all the things to become even more clear. We quickly whipped out our PowerSheets from Cultivate What Matters + dove into unveiling a plan. We assessed what was growing, what needed tending to + what was just darn right dried up. Understanding that we would have to face our fears + let go of those things, practices + concepts, that in the end really didn’t matter. From here we developed some goals for 2017 + with much prayer + supplication, started devising a plan to make these things happen.
Let it be known, it is through accepting this reality, the Lord made it clear as to what HE would have us to do + how HE would have us to do it. HE allowed strategies, concepts + conversations to happen faster than we could put the pen to the paper to jot down notes.
We brain dumped for 5 minutes + then asked God to prioritize the words on the paper. We also asked Him to reveal our word for the year, ultimately turning this into our year of yes.
What is the point of it all? To live a life for Christ, one that causes you to daily die to self + chase him. It is upon doing so, the Lord will literally give you beauty for ashes as promised in Isaiah 61:3. We have to be in alignment with Christ, it is Him who provides a covering over us. We can find this promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13.
It is once we do this, that he will “... pour you out a blessing so great you won’t have room to receive it.” Malachi 3:10 and at this moment, we are so thankful for the pouring. More on that will be shared later!
